Alpha Alpha offers a local scholarship | Education

Alpha Alpha Sorority is accepting applications for the Paula A. Howard Community Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship, and requirements include graduating from Indian River High School, commitment to community service, two recommendations, an essay, and transcripts. The deadline is April 15 and questions can be directed to Sue McKone at [email protected].

Gray Memorial Scholarship to be awarded to a student

The Omega Beta Sigma Phi Preceptor Sorority Chapter will award the 26th annual Howard D. Grise Memorial Scholarship this spring to a qualified high school graduate. Applicants must reside within the Indian River High School attendance area and demonstrate a commitment to the community through volunteerism.

Applications can be obtained from the guidance counselors at Indian River High School or Sussex Technical High School, by emailing [email protected] or by calling (302) 537-6558 . The application deadline is April 12.

LBWC Scholarship Applications Available

The Lord Baltimore Women’s Club (LBWC) of Ocean View invites high school students living in the Indian River School District to apply for its 2022 scholarships. The application deadline is March 31, 2022. The scholarship program is open to individuals eligible seniors attending Indian River High School, Sussex Central High School or Sussex Technical High School. Applications must comply with the required criteria identified in the scholarship application documents to be considered. Interested students should contact their high school guidance department for information on how to apply. Applicants will be assessed on their academic qualifications, extracurricular activities, community service, work experience, and financial need. Scholarship winners will be notified on or about May 16, 2022.

AARP to Award Five College Scholarships

The South Coast Delaware Chapter of AARP will award five scholarships this year — two to students at Indian River High School and three to students 25 or older at Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown. The total scholarship amount is $5,000.

Two $1,000 scholarships for IRHS students are based on academic record, extracurricular, community, and professional activities, and an essay related to students’ academic and professional goals. Electronic applications to complete are available from the high school guidance counselor’s office. IRHS applications must be returned to the guidance counselor by Friday, April 8. Fellows will be announced on May 18 as part of an awards program.

The local AARP chapter will also award three $1,000 scholarships to Del Tech students – two to nursing students and one to a non-nursing student. The amounts are split between the Spring and Fall 2022 semesters. For more information, students should contact the school’s Admissions and Financial Aid office.

The South Coastal DE AARP Chapter offers community outreach, advocacy, scholarship, travel, and a range of social and recreational activities for those in South East Sussex County. QRCF Announces 2022 Scholarships

The Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation (QRCF) will award college scholarships for the 2022 academic year to eligible high school seniors who reside in the area.

Two scholarships – the QRCF Academic Scholarship and the Captain William O. Murray Scholarship – will be awarded to selected qualified applicants who demonstrate academic excellence and a strong commitment to civic and community service, respectively.
