Build-A-Bear (BBW) Announces Second Quarter Loss, Beats Earnings Estimates

Build-A-Bear (BBW) came out with a quarterly loss of $0.82 per share against Zacks consensus estimate of a loss of $0.81. That compares to a loss of $0.08 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents a profit surprise of -1.23%. A quarter ago, this toy retailer was expected to post a loss of $0.76 per share when it actually produced a loss of $0.83, delivering a surprise -9, 21%.

In the past four quarters, the company has exceeded consensus EPS estimates only once.

Build-A-Bear, which is part of the Zacks Retail – Miscellaneous industry, reported revenue of $40.35 million for the quarter ended July 2020, beating Zacks’ consensus estimate of 26.94%. That compares to revenues of $79.21 million a year ago. The company has exceeded consensus revenue estimates three times in the past four quarters.

The sustainability of the immediate stock price movement based on recently released numbers and future earnings forecasts will primarily depend on management’s comments on the earnings call.
