Westport Library resumed full opening hours on September 13. The library is now open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. . The Library Café is also open from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., on Saturdays, and from 1 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., on Sundays. The library at 20 Jesup Road. The cafe has partnered with Southport’s Gruel Britannia business in addition to the library’s existing suppliers, the Sono Baking Company and Cloudy Lane Bakery. The dining venue serves salads, sandwiches, pastries, cookies and quiches. Gluten-free options are also available. New articles will be added in the coming weeks.

Social services announce energy assistance program


Westport Department of Social Services Director Elaine Daignault is encouraging city residents, who are income-eligible, to apply for the Connecticut Federal Energy Assistance Program through the DHS Department. Contactless applications for home heating assistance will be available from October 1 until April 30, 2022.

The program helps low-income households pay their heating bills in the winter. Individuals and families are eligible for the program based on their gross total annual income and household size. Households whose gross annual income, for example, is equal to or less than 60% of the state’s median income, which is $ 39,027 for a family of one and $ 51,035 for a family of two, and cash less than $ 15,000, must provide all required documentation to determine their eligibility for the program. Income-eligible households with previous applications for the program on file with the state will receive application instructions by mail in the coming weeks. Program eligibility is determined on the basis of each person’s gross income, cash flow, and income tax return from 2020, after providing the required documents.

No walk-in appointments will be accepted due to the coronavirus pandemic. Applications will be processed electronically or by mail.

New location for Westport Public Shredding Day

The 12th Annual Westport Public and Community Shredding Day, 9 a.m. to noon on September 25, has a new location at Greens Farms station in town. Residents can shred up to eight paper bags or three 12-by-19-inch boxes per household. The bags are also recyclable. Each car driven to the event will be charged $ 5. Zumba fundraiser, happy hour

Anna Zap is hosting a Zumba fundraiser and happy hour with Restaurant Bartaco in the courtyard at 20 Wilton Road, Westport at 3 p.m. on October 5. Zap is co-host of Anna & Raven radio. show, with co-host Raven, from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., on the STAR 99.9 radio station in Connecticut.

The cost of Zumba at the event is $ 25 per person.
