Range is going to be one of the biggest criteria for an all-electric offering, whatever segment it enters. As for the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS, while the lineup of the two versions isn’t going to set any benchmarks, it’s not going to be a dealbreaker for many.
The EQS450+ and EQS580 come with the same 107.8 kWh battery. Even though the battery capacity was better than the Tesla Model S Plaid, the EQS450+ offered 350 miles and the EQS580 offered 340 miles, both on par with the Model S Plaid. However, the Lucid Air is still the segment’s crowned champion when it comes to battery life.

The standard technologies and features offered with the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS make it a cut above the likes of the Lucid Air and Tesla Model S. The interior comes with features like a 12.3 digital gauge cluster “, a 12.8” touchscreen infotainment system, a passenger screen, leather upholstery, ambient lighting and massage seats.
The list of exterior features includes an LED logo projector, LED front and rear lights, illuminated door sills, panoramic roof and 20-inch 5-spoke aerodynamic alloy wheels. Most of the safety and driver assistance technologies are also standard.

The 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch front passenger display are offered with the EQS. If you get the more expensive EQS580 variant, the 17.7-inch infotainment screen replaces the smaller unit in the EQS450+.
The built-in MBUX infotainment software offers many features, including voice recognition, zero-layer menu concept, “Hey Mercedes” hotword activation, MB navigation and MBUX augmented video for navigation. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also offered. Audio is handled by the Burmester 3D Surround Sound system.
6 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS gets decent warranty coverage
The warranty coverage offered for the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS is much the same as other all-electric monikers from Germany. The limited warranty is covered for four years or 50,000 miles. The powertrain warranty is also of the same duration.
The 10-year or 155,000-mile electrical component warranty is also more than adequate. Unfortunately, Mercedes does not offer any add-on maintenance coverage with the 2022 EQS. As for reliability, the 2022 EQS received eight recalls and six customer complaints according to NHTSA.
Being one of the priciest offerings from the Mercedes stable, the 2022 EQS is going to delight many buyers with its attractive features and optional packages. These features and packages ensure that the car never disappoints in terms of design, safety, luxury and multimedia support.
Exclusive and pinnacle trims provide many necessary interior and exterior design features. The 21-inch AMG alloy wheels, sports steering wheel, brushed stainless steel pedals and several wood trims are also offered. Optional safety features like a dash cam and rear side airbag are also offered. However, the biggest list is part of luxury and multimedia support.
4 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS is very spacious
This full-size luxury liftback offers massive exterior dimensions, and the length and wheelbase are the best in the segment. This also translates to more interior space than the Lucid Air and Tesla Model S. Both the front and rear rows have impressive head and leg room, making it a comfortable 5-seater.
There are plenty of storage spaces inside the cabin to store all your knick-knacks. The large door pockets and rear seat pockets are also a plus. Even though the cargo space hasn’t been revealed yet, there’s a 60/40 split seat rack and cargo nets in the trunk.
3 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS has regenerative braking
Both trim configurations of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS come with multiple regenerative braking modes. If you set it to the strongest regen setting via the steering-mounted paddle shifter, one-pedal driving is also possible.
The conventional braking system consists of a 4-wheel disc brake setup with 15.3″ front rotors and 14.9″ rear rotors. Other braking features include ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent Control and Automated Emergency Braking are also standard.
2 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS is insanely fast
Coming with a unique electric motor setup mounted on the rear axle, the 2022 EQS450+ delivers 329 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. This helps the car go 0-60 MPH in 5.5 seconds. This version also comes standard with a direct-drive automatic transmission and the RWD transmission.
However, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS580 comes with two electric motors producing 516 hp and 611 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 MPH takes just 3.7 seconds, making it slightly faster than the Porsche Taycan 4S. However, the Tesla Model S Performance is still faster with a 0-60 MPH time of 2.4 seconds.
1 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS offers most driver assistance features
The long list of safety and driver assistance features offered as standard means you don’t need to opt for optional packs. Standard features include Active Distance Assist, Active Brake Assist, Active Steering Assist, Attention Assist, Adaptive High Beam Assist, Crosswind Assist , active blind spot, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist.
However, you’ll have to shell out more money if you need features like a dash cam, rear side airbags and lighted seat buckles. Aluminum and steel unibody construction is offered for the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS. However, it has not yet been tested by NHTSA and IIHS.
